Works For Me Wednesday - Fall's Coming

Okay, I'm in. 

For those of you not getting here via Rocks in My Dryer, let me explain.  Works for Me Wednesday (a lovely creation thought of by someone smarter than I) is a way to share neat and helpful ideas. 

For those of you linking here via Rocks in My Dryer, SORRY, I forgot to add what my link was about. In my defense, I haven't had any caffeine today.

We just had our first cool spell here, which reminded me that it is almost time to put the basket next to the door for hats, mittens, scarves, etc. It helps to eliminate the slug-like trail that otherwise forms behind the kiddos as they walk through my house. It also cuts down on, "Mom, have you seen my........?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to convince the general populous here on the planet that coats go on hangers?

lol ... it is a slug-like trail, isn't it?!! I never thought over it like that, but it's so true!

I have 3 kids and a husband who won't hang up coats. My youngest is too short to hang anything in the closet. So what I did is I bought a coat tree that has hooks at every level. It is much easier for kids to hang a coat on a rack by the door than to hang it on a hanger and put it in the closet.

I also converted my coat closet. It has a shelf for each kid. They can put their backpack, shoes, jacket, whatever they want. And I don't have to look at it.

On the door of that closet (on the inside) is a wall pocket (3 pockets) where they put their little things like mittens, and their library books.

This is a battle I've been fighting for years. ;-)

Great tip about the basket!

For jackets, I just have my kids roll them back up and put them in their backpacks for the next day.

I'm still working on an idea for winter coats!
